The Caecilians of the World: A Taxonomic Review

Pp. viii, (6), 848; 425 text-figures and photos.  Publisher's original dark blue cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine, thick lg 8vo.  This is the classic work on caecilians (limbless, serpentine amphibians), that has become very scarce.  When Edward Taylor wrote this work, he was considered the world's leading authority on this group.  No other monograph on the subject supersedes it.  Modern caecilians and their closest fossil relatives are grouped as a clade, Apoda, within the larger group Gymnophiona (from Wiki).  They inhabit the tropics of South and Central America, Africa, and southern Asia.  From the research collection of herpetologist J.
