Documents the study of the nearly extinct prairie chicken beginning in the 1930s by wildlife biologist Frances Hamerstrom. She is one of the earliest female wildlife biologists. Inscribed by the author to Ron Sauey, co-founder of the International Crane Foundation, Baraboo, Wisconsin on the title page. Name stamp of the Ron Sauey Memorial Library on front and rear endpapers and small call number on the spine of the dust jacket.
