Finely engraved map with vivid original hand-coloring (53 x 62 cm; 21 x 24.5 inches). The area covered includes the southern and central Caspian Sea and includes northern Persia (Iran) and the eastern Caucasus region, Dagestan, Armenia, and the area of Bukhara province in western Uzbekistan. The title cartouche appears in the lower right flanked by native peoples and a camel train. In the upper right is a decorative cartouche showing the fortified city of Baka (then known as Tereki) in Dagestan, Russia. This map also shows the ancient trade routes and is illustrated with 14 finely engraved ships in the Caspian Sea.
