This is the first printing of the first edition. William Beebe (1877-1962) is most remembered for the numerous expeditions that he conducted for the New York Zoological Society. On some of these expeditions he took deep dives in the Bathysphere (this diving sphere was designed by Beebe designed for this purpose). Beebe wrote numerous books on all aspects of natural history especially ornithology, marine biology, entomology and on travel and exploration. No ownership marks and no signs of use.
