This well-known volume is about camouflage, warning coloration and mimicry in the animal world by noted Cambridge zoologist Hugh Cott. It was first published in 1940 and went through several reprintings. This book had two previous owners: there is the bookplate of Thomas A. Jefferson on the front attached endpaper and the signature of vertebrate paleontologist, Edward Mitchell is also on the same endpaper. There is also a small circular name stamp of Edward Mitchell on the copyright page along with the date he purchased the volume. There are no other ownership marks.
