Tipped in at the title page is a printed card “With the Compliments of Henry F. Nachtrieb, State Zoologist”. This title was the first in a proposed series of volumes on the zoology of Minnesota. Ron Sauey was co-founder of the International Crane Foundation, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
